– It avoids skewed incentives — it’s big enough to matter but not so big that it distorts behaviour or integrity.

– It supports long-term alignment — referral partners become stakeholders and partners

– It works financially for everyone — the business, the referrer, the community and the ecosystem

THE OLD MODEL

Our original referral structure paid around 10% for initial introductions, but it proved too transactional:

– Encouraged “single-shot” referrals rather than long-term support

– Didn’t create alignment between stakeholders

– Rewarded short-term activity instead of ecosystem building

– Felt too high to be sustainable at scale and too low to build lasting engagement
